Please note: This page usually has a scrollable list of our adoptable dogs from PetFinder. PetFinder attempted to update their website in early December and has been experiencing significant issues since with very slow resolutions. Due to this, our staff are updating this page manually, which may mean a delay in updating newly available pets or removing recently adopted pets. If you have any questions regarding a pet’s availability prior to applying, please feel free to ask via the contact form.

If you are interested in meeting our adoptable dogs and puppies, please visit our Adoption Process page to fill out an application. Once your application is processed, you will be contacted to schedule a viewing appointment. We do not conduct walk-in or same day viewing of our adoptable pets.

Adoptable Dogs:

Meet Baldr, a charming 7-year-old hound mix. Baldr is around 45lbs and is handsome as can be! Baldr is very chill when he’s with people and enjoys going for walks. In his past home it was reported he had separation anxiety and unfortunately, he was left alone a lot and had recently moved, which made it worse. He is looking for a home where someone is home often and can help him build a routine to ease his anxiety. He tends to sniff and ignore other dogs, and can coexist, but does not want to play or engage much with them. He often has a hard time making a good first impression with other dogs, as he just wants to bark at them loudly, which most dogs do not enjoy. We think he would do best in a home as an only dog or possibly with another mellow senior. It was said he lived with a cat in his past home and mostly left them alone, sniffing them occasionally. Baldr is a sweet and low-key dog. He loves to be with people whether it be on a walk or relaxing in the yard. Let’s get this sweet senior back into a home!

Bonnie is a beautiful collie mix who is about 2 years old. She had 7 puppies at our shelter and is now looking for her own perfect home! She is a sweetheart, who loves to carefully jump up on you for hugs and attention. She is incredibly smart and agile and would love a home to keep her active and enriched! She does take longer to get used to some men, so a slow and patient home is needed. She is dog friendly and kid friendly. Once she bonds to people, she does have the tendency to resource guard them, so we are looking for a home with previous experience dealing with any potential guarding issues. Due to resource guarding we are marking her for households with children over 12 yrs of age. She seems to enjoy other dogs at the shelter, but due to her small animal prey drive, will need a home without cats or small pets.

Meet Chewy, a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix, weighing about 16 pounds. He was found as a stray and never reclaimed, so now he is looking for a forever home! Chewy is very nervous and was mortified when he first came to us. He has made tremendous strides, though, and now enjoys pets and hanging out with his people. Chewy will need patience as he adjusts and gets to know you and starts to trust. Fast movements can spook him, but we have made lots of progress as far as leashing/unleashing and petting. He loves to go outside with his people to run around, sniff, and play with squeaky plush toys. He does chase the toys when thrown, but he likes to hold them instead of bringing them back. Chewy has met a few similar sized dogs and done okay. He does tend to match the energy of the other dogs, so if the other dog isnโ€™t a fan, neither is Chewy. He has run around outside in a run next to one of our medium dogs and seemed to get excited when she got the zoomies. We are hoping with time and patience in a home, he will blossom! Chewy is looking for a home without children. It would be beneficial for an adopter to have experience with nervous dogs or finicky chihuahuas.

Chewy has some allergies that were causing him to have a lot of skin irritation and upset stomach. He is now on a fish-based diet (Purina ProPlan Sensitive Skin and Stomach- Salmon and Rice) as well as Apoquel, once daily, which helped tremendously. He will need to be on this long term.

Meet Coco- a dashing 4-year-old Collie/Shepherd/Terrier type mix who came to us after being surrendered to another shelter. He weighs in around 35lbs, though is a bit skinny, so will likely even out around 38lbs. He is a playful and fun guy, who enjoys walks and running around outside. He’s an active dog and doesn’t mind wading in his kiddie pool! Coco is a bit selective with his dog friends and has done best with submissive females. Coco walks well on a harness and is very curious about exploring his surroundings. He can be nervous meeting new people and will need slow introductions. He has been moved around quite a bit recently, so we would love to get him back in a home!

Meet Indie, a 3-year-old aussie mix with the cutest ears and smile. Indie enjoys playing with toys and getting yummy treats. She also loves fetch! Indie loves to go on walks with the volunteers and enjoys running in the yard, as well. When we sit down with she just wants to climb into our lap and give kisses while she gets pets!

In September of 2023, Indie had surgery to correct an issue with a luxating patella and is fully healed and doing great! She’s back to running around and playing like before. She is about 40lbs now and can likely stand to lose some of the weight she had gained while on cage rest.

Indie is a herding breed, so as always, we strongly encourage anyone interested in her to research these types of dogs. Indie hasn’t shown herself to be a big fan of other dogs during her time with us, so she will need to be an only pet! She promises to provide lots of love and laughter to her forever family!

Indie’s adoption fee has been fully sponsored by a generous donor!

Meet Kiko and Kody! These adorable 8-year-old Rat Terrier brothers came to us after being surrendered to local animal control. They are sweet little guys who love to sit on your lap or shoulders. Kiko is a bit over 10lbs and Kody is a bit under 10lbs. They’ve done well around the other dogs so far here as well. They also appear housetrained. They’re wonderful boys and have quickly become staff and volunteer favorites! Kiko and Kody are a bonded pair and looking for a home together.

Marty is an adorable senior Chihuahua mix, who is about 10 years old and around 20lbs. He was adopted out from WCHS in 2023 and was recently returned due to his owner having health issues. Heโ€™s back at the shelter, loving all the staff and volunteers but he really wants to be in a home again. He loves to lounge around with people or in a comfy dog bed. While Marty is dog and kid friendly, he does get protective to guard his human in a home environment, so he is looking for a home as the only pet. Marty walks pretty well on leash and does enjoy rolling in the grass for belly rubs too.

Marlo is 4 years old and guessed to be a Saint Bernard/ Pit mix. This beautiful girl has been at WCHS for over 2 years. She’s all muscle (weighing in around 75lbs) and goofy, loving eyes. While some might find her looks to be intimidating, this girl could not be sweeter. The shelter staff adore this girl and she gives just as much love in return.

Not only is Marlo loving, she is very energetic and active. She loves walks and does great with her harness. She is a big fan of our fenced outdoor pens where she can run and play with toys. Speaking of toys, Marlo LOVES balls: tennis balls, basketball-sized balls, giant indestruct-a-balls. You name it, she’s playing soccer with it. She does need some training with play time as she can get too excited when you go to grab the toy and will try to grab it at the same time as you. She will gently jump up onto you for love and to give kisses, too. Sometimes she’ll even climb onto your lap to snuggle.

Marlo needs an active and strong leader who can help her be her best! She is looking for a home without cats or dogs. She would do best with older children as she is a big strong girl who loves to jump and run. Are you looking for an active dog with lots of love to give? Marlo would love to come home with you!

Mookie is a beautiful 9-year-old Pit Mix, weighing just under 80lbs. She was in a foster home for a couple years before being transferred to our rescue. Mookie has been at WCHS for over 2.5 years waiting for a family to take her in.

Mookie is sweet and playful with the people she knows and trusts. She needs slow introductions, but once she trusts you, she is madly in love! Mookie always keeps her kennel clean and enjoys playing with squeaky plush toys and snuggling in bed. She loves to go on walks with all her volunteer friends. She thinks she’s a lap dog too, and it’s hard to tell that sweet face no! Mookie’s favorite outdoor activities include sunbathing and taking naps in the pool.

Mookie has been diagnosed with arthritis and hypothyroidism. She is on meds for both and seems to be doing well! She is working on losing some weight to help with the arthritis, too. Mookie does prefer to be the only dog in the home. She isn’t a fan of cats.

Queenie is a gorgeous, 4 year old, 70lb pit mix who is just a giant baby in disguise. She is full of energy and loves to play! She has no knowledge of personal space and just wants to be on top of you and in your face. She loves to greet you with her sweet face and wagging tail. She would make an excellent companion and cuddle buddy! Queenie has been at WCHS for over 2.5 years waiting for her forever family. The shelter staff adore Queenie. She is such a wonderful girl who has been overlooked for quite a while.

Queenie can be a little timid at first, but once she meets you, she is a lovebug and a goofball! Her favorite toys are giant rope toys and hard chew bones. She loves to run in our fenced outdoor pens and enjoys a good walk with her favorite people.

Queenie would do best in a home without other dogs or cats. She would do best with no young kids. For allergies, Queenie is on a fish-based sensitive skin and stomach diet. She also receives Apoquel daily. Please help us get Queenie out of the shelter!

Meet Roxanne, a gorgeous 6-year-old German Shepherd mix who was found as a stray and never reclaimed. We unfortunately know nothing about her history but are set to make her future the very best it can be. Roxanne is on the smaller size for a shepherd, just over 50lbs.

Roxanne is very sweet and loves getting attention from staff and volunteers. Roxanne seems to be anxious in the shelter environment, understandably. She would benefit greatly from a home where she can get her energy out while also getting lots of love and attention! She loves to be by her people and does very well in the house. She loves to chew on her bones, throw around rope toys, and get pets!

Roxanne is looking for a home without other dogs as she is very dog selective. It would be best for her to go to a home with a fenced yard as she will need work with her dog reactivity on walks. She will need a home without kids.

Meet Ringo, a 1-year-old English Bulldog/Pug mix weighing about 45lbs. Ringo has had a rough start and is looking for a patient, dedicated home to help him blossom. He is dog friendly and very curious about other dogs, we think it would be very beneficial to have a friendly, confident dog in the home. Ringo can jump or climb any barrier or fence. He cannot be off leash outside at all as he will escape and run away. Ringo is quite nervous and will need a couple meet and greets to get comfortable. Once he is comfortable, he thinks he is a lap dog and will jump onto staff or into their laps. His ideal home would be without kids and in a quieter environment, away from a lot of traffic.

If interested in Ringo, please understand he will be foster-to-adopt as he will need time to decompress. We also have a behaviorist we utilize to help with the transition and adjustment.

Meet Scout, an adorable 20lb Terrier/Chi/Cattle Dog type mix who came from local animal control as an unclaimed stray. He is a very sweet boy who loves to be with people and receive attention. He knows sit and paw and will happily offer those commands whenever you would like, sometimes even when you are not asking for them. He has not been a fan of other dogs since arriving at the shelter. Scout has lots of energy and is working on leash manners. Because of his dog reactivity, he will need some work on walks. A fenced yard would be great for him. He does love to run around, chase toys, and sniff in the grass. He can tend to grab the leash to try to tug or be a little mouthy when he gets excited. He is looking for a home with no children or other dogs.

Meet Winifred aka Winnie! This beautiful beagle is around 3-years-old and 20lbs. She came to us from a hoarding situation. Winifred can be nervous meeting new people, but once she’s comfortable, shows her wild side! She’s an energetic, playful, goofy girl who loves to zoom around. She is dog friendly, but can be a rough player, so would need some guidance. Winnie will need some extra help with potty training, due to her past living situation. She is looking for a patient home to allow her to decompress and adjust to a new way of life. She is looking for a home with prior beagle experience and a fenced yard.
